We had Thor's 2nd Birthday Party on Saturday. I started taking pictures of the kids when we got there and right as he was about to start opening gifts, my camera flashed an error and would not take anymore pictures!!! This has never happened before!! Here are a few of the kids, pre-party!!! Happy Birthday Thor!! Happy #2!!

Spring Break 2009 will go down in the books as the wettest spring break in history!!! We don't mean that we got wet in the pool, or at the beach or in a wet T-shirt contest! Since we got off last Friday it has rained and rained and rained and, well you get the picture! Above you can see the dam on our property between our two, as of last week, dry ponds. This is the water that is now flowing over the now, filled to the brim ponds.

There was a dry hole there that you could drive completely around??? Watch out tractor under the shed!!

And to the left we have a beautiful waterfall right here in Bristol, Florida, at the Eikeland's.

Cayla is that your house that was by a small dry hole in the ground??? My what a difference a day makes!!!

The potatoes were the only thing that weren't completely under water! As of today that is!

I looked out my window Monday morning.....the one morning so far that it Wasn't raining, and this is what I saw! Zac has been staying with me since Cayla is not off for Spring Break! So I grabbed the camera! I don't remember what those turtles drove.....but an FSU golf cart seems to work pretty well!!

I met the Turtle at the door! "Which one are you?" I asked?

Winter Beach

I love enjoying a walk on the beach on a beautiful winter day. We rode down to St. George Island last Saturday and walked on the beach for a little bit. As you can see Zac was getting out some of his energy from the long drive!!! He looks like he's trying out for a role in the next Karate Kid!

Don't you love the feel of the sand between your toes!!

Hello Zac in the windshield of the golfcart!! Big, beautiful, brown, eyes!!

Here we are smelling the toes!! We all have to smell them, then wave our hand in front of our nose and say Peeeeeeuuuuuuu!!!! Of course Thor laughs! Why we do this just to see a baby laugh I don't know.....because they REALLY STINK!! Well, I guess that's why we do it, just to see a baby laugh!

Now that's more like it! I'll smell those toes!! I'll even kiss them!

Riding with the Boys!!

This afternoon I went on a little outing with my grandson Zac, and my nephews Jordan and A.J. We rode the golfcart's around and explored and played and took pictures. They told me what to take pictures of and I snapped away! Here are some of the highlights of our adventure!

Hurricane Party, Go Away Fay!

Zac was prepared just in case we lost power!! He had his headlamp ready to go!

And we Did!! Friday night for several hours. We were very lucky, our power came back on just before they called the crews in for the night when the weather got bad. Some people did not get power until the next day.

But just a little power outage didn't stop the Eikeland's from dining! We grilled up some hamburgers in the middle of the downpour! Boy were they good! Candlelight dinner and all. Can someone pass me the ketchup!

Hello to the 1st and 10!!!! Grades that is!! I even got them to act nice for 5 more minutes to take pictures! Taylor has been keeping Zac all summer and I think they are ready for a break from each other.....well I know that she is ready for a break!! I don't know if school is the break she was hoping for, but oh well!!

I can't believe Taylor is in the 10th grade. She made the big transition from Hosford to Liberty County High School last year. The year seemed to fly by, and here she is ready to start her second year of high school!!

I'll be blogging her Sr. year before I know it and she'll be off to college!!

Footprints in the Sand

Thor enjoyed the beach so much. He was so funny. You couldn't stop him. If he got knocked down by a wave, he got back up or we scooped him up and he'd come back for more. I just loved how he was so determined. He got those little arms up and took off for the water.......leaving his little footprints in the sand! I hope he keeps that little determined attitude through out his life and leaves his mark upon the world, leaving his footprints behind for others to follow.

Hawaiian Holiday Highlights!!!

For those of you that I have heard "are about to scream if I have to look at those toes again"! Here are some new pics!!!! I have learned that traveling, is not for sissies! Don't go more than 1 time zone away from your own, unless you have a whole week to lie around the house and sleep when you get home! And last, but not least pack light! We had a great time......but I'm glad to be home! I love home! I'll post more later!

Yes!! John and I did go on the vacation!! Here we are at Pearl Harbor, one of my favorite places that we visited.

Travelin' Toes!

What do freshly painted toe nails and vacations have in common! Well I don't go on one without having the other!!! So it must mean we are about ready to go!! The day after tomorrow to be exact! It's been a very hard day. I spent the first half trying very hard to leave everything at work in order and then right after lunch they called from the Rehab and said mom wasn't doing well and they were taking her to the ER. After spending the second half of the day there, we got her settled back in at the Rehab (bladder infection) and came home to rest and start again. Beth and Jessica gave John , Cayla and I a pedicure to get ready for our Hawaiian Vacation! It was just what I needed to R & R for round II. Let's get those suitcases packed!!!!!

Today was Taylor's 15th birthday!!

And you know what that means!!!! That's right.....GET OFF THE ROADS......you've been given fair warning! And on top of that, my birthday was yesterday, I was not 15, but was 51, too old to be responsible for a teenage driver!

Thor and Nana's Big Night!!

Saturday night is the auction!!! Curry, Amanda and John all love to go! Thor and I decided it was too hot!! So we had a big night at home! First we rode the golf cart and picked pears! Well 2 pears! But he held them all the way home! Then we sat in the swing and called the dogs and he clicked his tongue like I was doing to call them! Then we came inside and he read a few books!

We played some peek-a-boo around the door!!!

He read some more!!

Then he took a bath and he played some more!!!

And some more and more!!!! Finally.......he was too tired to play anymore and he went to sleep! When they came home from the auction around 11:00 and went swimming, I said to just let him spend the night. I'm always just afraid I won't hear him crying if he wakes up. John and Taylor said they would hear him. So I took my medicine and went to sleep. When I woke up around 6:00 and checked on him he was fine. At 8:30 when I got up he was up with John. I was so proud that he had slept all night!! John asked me had I heard him get up??????? Why whatever do you mean????? He woke up at 12:30 and was up over an hour before he went back to sleep. ok........so...I slept like a baby!

Thor all decked out in his red, white and blue! He sure enjoyed the day!! Then he crashed and took a two hour nap with Taylor in Nana's bed. Hope everyone had a great 4th yesterday! We had a wonderful day. Our big Eikeland family got together to enjoy the day. We had fun swimming, grilling, watching the kids, and talking about our upcoming vacation to HAWAII.......only two weeks!!

Zac always has fun in the pool!! He might be swimming with dolphins or away from sharks or saying "Nana, do motorboat with me!" But he is always MOVING!!

Here is our sweet GIRL!!! Kayleigh is enjoying the pool....she liked to suck the water out of the little pool balls!

Kayleigh and Thor had fun together, well they were fun to watch anyway!! Thor wasn't sure sometimes about someone else playing with his toys.....but he was pretty good about it! I realized that I didn't have girl toys. Cayla quickly volunteered to go and purchase some to have at Aunt Chaille's house for future visits!!

Zac, Thor and I went riding on the golf cart this evening and as usual I take my camera. Zac decided he wanted to snap some pics! So I let him, with close supervision of my new camera! I really like this one, with the sun peeping over Chief's head and Chief and Rascal snuggling.

This is a shot he took of the Marigolds in the Garden. The weeds have about taken over, but they are so big and beautiful!

Then he wanted to take a picture of his house. You can see Cayla's front yard that she has been working hard in this spring and summer. She has NEVER worked in the yard before. But she has done a great job.

These are some of his mother's pink flowers in her front yard. He took this one for her! She said they were just two small plants and have grown out of control.

I didn't really want to post this lovely pic! But Zac was very proud of his photo shoot!! This is Thor and Nana by the barn . I guess it's good though, there are never any pictures of me, because i'm always taking them. Of course, I like it that way! That's like the #1 reason to be the photographer! I guess I'll have to train Zac to take over my job one day! He seems to be off to a good start!

They say in Florida if you don't like the weather just hang around for 15 minutes and it will change. Well that's about right!! This was about 15 minutes ago and I can hear the thunder in the distance now! It was really coming down. But that's the way it is here in the summer. Sometimes nice on a Saturday afternoon! If you don't have big outdoor plans!!

No swimming today!! Or at least not for a little while!! :)

I guess this fellow was enjoying the shower! You can see we need the rain to fill up our so to speak "pond"!

Zac came running in the house for Pop, to tell him there was a snake outside. We all went to see it. I decide to try out my new camera and my new zoom lens. No I wasn't that close to the snake! It's a harmless black snake and we let him go along his way. But I still kept my distance! Zoom is great!

St. Mark's

John and I took a photography class at the St. Mark's Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, June 7. We had a lot of fun learning and taking photos in the 90 degree heat! We left St. Mark's and headed to Wakulla Springs and took the river cruise and ate a picnic lunch. It was a very nice day! No kids....just the two of us.....we hardly knew what to do!!!:)

These crabs were at St. Marks. It was so cool. There were hundreds of them! They all moved together. It was if the ground was moving. If you started walking toward them they would all begin to move at the same time.

The crabs looked like they had pumpkin faces painted on them! I don't know what kind of crabs they were..... but they should be called "Pumpkin Crabs"!

Farmer Zac is checking out the crops! The corn is not ready yet, but we have lots of beans, squash and tomatoes! Don't you love the outfit! One of the "big shirts" from Nanas that he wears after swimming or bathing and his Indiana Jones hat that Ms. Rita gave him.

We borrowed Indiana Jones' hat to carry the veggies in the house. Thanks Indi!

After filling our bellies with hamburgers and kabobs including vegetables from our garden!!! Then topping that off with some homemade icecream!! Yum-Yum!! We all headed to the pool to cool off! I would say relax and cool off, but that was not on the menu for today. But splashing and fun was had by all.

Thor likes to drive or eat the steering wheel in his little floating fire truck!

Driving Lessons!

Zac has been learning to drive the golf cart! So I guess Thor thinks he's big enough to drive too! Thanks Zac for letting him stand in the drivers seat.....he loves it! He thinks he's a "big boy"! Nana just had to throw the camera in the seat and catch him in mid air when he decided he had driven enough and was ready to play on the ground!

We rode the golf cart around this afternoon. They had all found a pretty flower that they knew I would love to take a picture of. So I did and then I begged Zac to let me take some shots of him! I have no idea how to do this Blog thing!! But I'm going to give it a try!!
I went to my second photo symposium today. Taylor was called at the last
minute to be a stand in model for one that got sick. Soooo she had her first
"paid" modeling job!
I'm doing this blog thing to "show off" my photos, my family and my grand
babies!! I really just want a place to gather them all together and enjoy them
and share with friends and family! So here's goes nothing..........
